Residing on a swath of land in what is called the Western Highland Rim of Tennessee including a lovely section of the Buffalo Riverbed where the bluff wall makes the water turn depositing new rocks every storm (and taking some away), I have become an avid rock collector - especially flat rocks. The collections here are curated from my explorations.
“Rock balancing can be a performance art, a spectacle, or a devotion, depending upon the interpretation by its audience. Essentially, it involves placing some combination of rock or stone arrangements which requires patience and sensitivity to generate, and which appear to be physically impossible while actually being only highly improbable... Rock balancing has also been described as a type of problem solving, and some artists consider it as a skill in awareness.”

I used to be a graphic design professor, but I'm on my own now in rural mid-south Tennessee where I strive every day to enjoy the natural surroundings of a very special place. Turning towards nature and hand-craft as a personal life strategy also encompasses my drive to be an arts entrepreneur creating with earth/clay and curating unique natural objects from this land so that you can bring the outside into your interior sanctuary. I still design if the project is right and I still teach remotely as an occasional adjunct as well as a one-on-one design coach.
